✨ Creative Mindset: How I Overcome Design Block
Even the most creative people get stuck sometimes — staring at a blank canvas,
not knowing where to start. Here are a few of my personal methods for breaking
through design block 👇
🔹 1. Step Away from the Screen
I take a short walk, stretch, or even make tea. A fresh perspective often
comes when I stop forcing it.
🔹 2. Collect Inspiration
I scroll through Behance, Pinterest, or Dribbble — not to
copy, but to spark new ideas. Sometimes a color palette or layout detail is
enough to trigger creativity.
🔹 3. Set Micro-Goals
Instead of thinking about the “perfect final design,” I set a small task
like:
·
“Choose 3 color options”
·
“Sketch 5 quick logo shapes”
These small steps reduce pressure and build momentum.
🔹 4. Try Constraints
Weirdly enough, limitations fuel creativity. I’ll force
myself to design with only 2 colors or 1 typeface — and that challenge often
leads to surprising results.
🔹 5. Accept the Ugly Phase
Every project has that messy middle. Instead of stressing, I remind myself: “It
doesn’t need to look good yet — it just needs to exist.” Refinement comes
later.
💡 Remember: block is part of the process.
Creativity isn’t a straight line — it’s a cycle. The key is to keep moving,
even in small ways.
